History
Though Cadbury originated in England, New Zealand’s famous confectioner Richard Hudson teamed up with Cadbury in the 1930’s to bring the Dairy Milk Chocolate bar to his country. New Zealand has been in love with Cadbury chocolate ever since. Dunedin is now the proud home of one of the world’s two Cadbury Worlds, the other being located in Birmingham where the brand originated.

Key Highlights
The Cadbury Jaffa Race is held on the last Friday of the carnival. Thousands of Jaffas are rolled down Baldwin Street in Dunedin, which lays claim to being the world’s steepest road. This tradition might be pretty silly, but you can’t bet on seeing anything like it elsewhere. And it’s only $1 to enter.

Backpackers are around $20-$80 NZD per night, depending on whether you choose a dorm or private room.
WorkingHolidaymaker.com TIP!
The festival features a range of events in Dunedin, so if there’s a chocolate related activity you can come up with, it’s probably on offer. This includes but is not limited to: chocolate tours, chocolate decorating, chocolate painting, chocolate art, chocolate facials and, of course, chocolate cooking classes. There are also a number of cultural events, like a fashion show and recycled art competitions. And, of course, don’t miss Cadbury World itself!
