Passports
To travel you will need a valid and current passport from your country of origin. Generally you obtain a passport from your government department of home affairs. Visit your national or federal government website for details on how to apply.
First-time passport applicants should allow at least six to eight weeks for processing. It is best to allow as much time as you can before you start booking tours, arranging accommodation and booking flights. In fact most travel bookings will require a passport for completion.
If you already have a current passport remember to set an automatic reminder if it is due for renewal. You will need to allow at least a month for renewal, especially if you are outside your country of origin. Travelling on an expired passport could leave you stranded at a boarder office. If your passport does expire while you are overseas, visit your embassy, consulate or high commission on location for immediate help and renewal.
