Hostels
When you first move to a new country on your working holiday, staying in a hostel can be a good way to get started. Hostels are relatively cost-effective places to stay and also provide a base from which to start your employment search. One advantage is that most hostels have internet facilities and allow you to use their postal address for a short term period.
Hostels are great places to meet other independent travellers many of whom are also on working holidays. This is ideal for socialising, finding travel buddies, finding work opportunities and even potentially getting some people together to share a longer-term rental.
Hostels vary in price and this often reflects the quality of the accommodation. Some people enjoy this kind of dormitory-style living arrangement while others prefer environments where their fellow residents are less transient.
Some hostels do provide segregated dorms for males and females, so when booking check to see what particular sleeping arrangements are available. Hostel accommodation typically includes breakfast and bathroom facilities.
