Work and Holiday Visa

Work and Holiday Visa are essentially the same as a Working Holiday Maker Visa but the Work and Holiday partner countries are required to meet additional eligibility criteria. A Work and Holiday Visa is available to people who have completed a university or other tertiary qualification. Generally you cannot extend your visa under the Work and Holiday Visa rules.

Work and Holidays Visa for USA

If you want to travel to the USA under a Work and Holiday Visa you will need to be sponsored by a registered sponsoring organisation. For example Camp for Kids USA or a local business employer will have to sponsor you. US Department of State website http://j1visa.state.gov provides all the required criteria and list of potential sponsor organisations to aid your Work and Holiday Visa opportunity. In addition you must satisfy one of the following items:

  1. Enrolled as a post-secondary student
  2. Enrolled as a post-secondary student and have deferred study
  3. Graduated within the last 12 months from a post-secondary institution.

Work and Holiday Visas for Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and Uruguay

Travelling on a Work and Holiday Visa for these countries requires additional item including:

  1. A letter of approval supporting the application from your Government.
  2. Tertiary education level achieved or being achieved.
  3. Basic speaking / understanding of Spanish when you apply for a Working Holiday Visa in Chile, Argentina or Uruguay
  4. A basic understanding of the Bahasa language if travelling to Indonesia
  5. If travelling to Malaysia you will need a police clearance and medical certificate of good health certificates.
